The Beginner's Guide On Blogging

A blog is basically an online journal wherein you can digitally pen down your thoughts, ideas, opinions and practically anything that you want people to read. I call it the mother of all online businesses. I have never heard anyone claim that setting up a blog reduced his or her Online profit potential, rather a blog makes you more money ( this may be after sometime though); this is why I recommend you set up a blog right from the beginning of your online business.
Blogs comes in different styles, formats, and settings, depending on the preference of the user. Many blogging sites, offer built in features such as hyperlink, straight texts, pictures etc. Some blogging sites, even allow you to put videos and MP3’s on your blogs. Some bloggers choose to make heir blog more audio friendly, by using spoken word entries instead of writing texts. This is called Audio blogging.
The most popular Blogging platforms used by bloggers are Google Blogger (otherwise called Blogspot) and Wordpress. If you are new to blogging, you should start with blogger because it is easy to use. Although I agree to the fact that Wordpress is better than Blogger but I would advise you to begin with Blogger before moving to Wordpress because it is easy to use.
A Blog is especially useful for first time users, since they can start blogging right away. They can choose from a number of templates that blogging websites provides. Anyone who wants to start a blog can do so by becoming a member of a blogging website of their choice. Once they’ve become members, they automatically become part of the particular blogging community.
They can browse through other bloggers pages, and link them back to their own blogs, this is known as backlinks. They can also make comments in their member’s blog. Blogging is not just limited to personal usage. There are a lot of blogs that follow a theme such as: Sports, politics, education, computer, philosophy, social commentary, etc.  These blogs stick to their specific themes that correlate with their niche. This way blogging becomes a medium which people can share their knowledge and opinion abut a variety of theme and topics.
Some bloggers even use their blog as a means to advertise. Some authors advertise their books on their blogs. While other bloggers, use their blog to shed light to current issues, events, news and catastrophes. Nowadays, in education, blogs also play an important part. Professors use blogging to document the lessons that have discussed and taught. This way students who have missed classes, can easily catch up with their assignments.
A lot of entrepreneurs benefit from blogging by promoting their businesses on their blogs, with millions and millions of people logging in to the net everyday, blogging have become a lucrative move. Some bloggers who run online businesses promote their merchandise online while others profit through advertisement.
But by far, the most popular blog type is the one that takes the form of a personal journal. This is the type that is usually used by first time bloggers. Individuals who want to document the daily struggle of their everyday lives, poems, rants, opinion, find that blogging offer them a medium in which to express themselves. Bloggers usually communicate within themselves. This is one of the appeals of blogging. It creates a community of people sharing their ideas, thoughts and comments with each other. Blogs vary in topics, themes and set-ups can be found in log directories. First time users, who wants to get an idea of what the blogging world is all about can browse through a number of blogs using these directories. This way they should get an idea of what these blogging communities are like.
Blogging is popular all over the world. Blog is short for the term Weblog. There are no rules when it comes to blogging, bloggers have the freedom to express themselves however they want, and the best thing about blogging is that most blogging websites are free. There are numerous blogging website to choose from in the net. This gives first times the option of joining a blogging community that appeals to their interests. Just search any blogging directory and you should get a list of blogging sites that are available on the net. It’s easy to search a blogging directory, because it is organized according to category. This way you would get exactly what you are after. Blogging is really for everyone. It’s fun, simple and easy.
According to statistic, about 150,000 new blogs are created on a daily basic. But could you believe that more than half of these blogs are abandoned by their owners within the first 3 months of their creation? Yes, that’s the truth! The reason is that, most newbie bloggers, after setting up a blog, expect the traffic to flow in spontaneously. And when this doesn’t happen, they get frustrated and abandon their blogs – forever in most cases.
Have you just set up your own blog or you are just panning to create one? Or are you on the verge of quitting because the traffic isn’t coming? Here is good news. You’ll soon discover the Basic Techniques for creating your new blog. But wait! You need to get something clear…… Never start marketing your blog when you have nothing to offer yet. Start promoting your blog only after you’ve posted enough valuable content to engage your visitors
Some newbie bloggers (probably out of anxiety) start promoting their blogs after writing just one post – one which, usually won’t be succeeded by a new one until after months! And these clowns (excuse the language) expect visitors to check back for more after reading just one post! That’s rather too clownish. Once again, to attract readers to your blog, and to retain them as well, you must post lots of quality content – I’ll say at least 10 valuable articles for a start – on your blog.
Your blog post must be well researched, helpful, informative, practical, educative, well-outlined and free of grammatical and typographical errors. Only post with these qualities can fascinate first-time visitors and turn them into frequent readers. If you cannot write such powerful posts yourself, consider hiring a professional ghostwriter.
Now let me walk you through the simple process of setting up your new blog on blogger. Just follow the following steps:

Building with Blogger
Before you can use Blogger, you must first have a Google account. This is not a difficult thing to get and it’s free. In fact some people already have a Google account but they may not realize it. If you have a Gmail address, it means that you already have a Google account .To register your new blog, go to www.blogger.com
The website looks like this:
As mentioned earlier, if you already have a Gmail or Google email address, that is if you have an email address that ends with @gmail.com or @googlemail.com it means you can log in to Blogger directly because you already have a Google account.
But if you don’t have that type of email address then you will need to first create one before proceeding.

Tip: We strongly advice that you create a separate Gmail and yahoo address to use for the exercises in this course. Something more like your corporate email address because you are in business now.

This is the email that you will use to register for your Google account and other things related to your online business. It can be something like onlinebusiness@hotmail.com or
emmalexconsult@yahoo.com. Don’t use your personal email address.

1. If you already have a Gmail or Google email address or you already have an account with Google
In this case, you can sign in directly and then move on to the process of creating your free blog. On the right hand side of the page as shown below, you’ll see a section that says Sign in. Enter your user name or Gmail or Google email address and password as indicated and then click on Sign In.
If you are browsing from a cybercafé or with a computer that is not yours then do not click the check box that says Stay signed in. If you do then you will not be logged out even after you close the browser and someone else might be able to access your account.

If this is your first time signing in to Blogger with your Gmail account, you will be asked again to sign up specifically for the Blogger service. Fill the form as shown on the next page.
On the Confirm Your Profile page, you will see two tabs. Click on the one by the right (Create a Limited Blogger Profile).
An empty column will pop under for your display name. In this column, enter the name you would like to be displayed on your blog and on your posts. You can use your real name or a pseudonym.
Check the “Feature Announcements” box.
Click “Continue To Blogger
On the next page (Your Name’s Blogs), click on “New Blog

Some examples of good blog titles are:

Nigerian Jobs Recruitment and Careers Website
Nigerian News – Hot News, Breaking News and Popular Nigeria Issues
The Personal Blog of Marcus Ndukwe Jamieson
Weight Loss for Nigerians

Tip: Although Blogger is primarily used to create blogs, such blogs can easily be made to look like different kinds of websites like Corporate, CMS or magazine websites. This can be achieved through the use of templates which shall be discussed in the coming sections.

The Blog title is a very important aspect of your blog because it plays a huge role in determining how easily people will find your website when they search. In conjunction with the blog address, the blog title is among the most important aspects of your blog. More about the importance of the blog address and title is discussed in later Lessons.
The title you use for your blog should not be too long and could be between 5 to 10 words long. This title can be changed at any time after creating the blog but it’s not advisable to change it frequently, if at all.
It is important here to point out that whatever subject your blog is talking about, the title ought to be related in some way to that subject. In the examples given above and on the previous page, the first is for a job blog, the second is for a news site, the third is a personal blog and the fourth is for a weight loss site.

If you are building a corporate website for an organization or a company, you could use the company’s name as the blog title e.g Gold Finger Enterprises.
After entering the Blog title, the next thing is to enter the blog address. As shown in the image, whatever you enter here will become the part of your blog address that will appear before .blogspot.com.

For example, if you picked Nigerian jobseeker as your blog name, then that is what you have to enter here. In the end, the full website address of your blog will be www.nigerianjobseeker.blogspot.com. This is what you or other people must type to visit your blog.

Tip: Remember that since this is a free name, you must always include the .blogspot.com as part of the URL when you or other people want to access the website.

So Assuming that the name you chose for your blog (as discussed earlier) is Nigerian jobs, then under blog address, you should enter Nigerian jobs.
To know if this name is still available, you can click on Check Availability and it will tell you whether that name has already been used by another person or not.
If it has already been used, it will suggest some names that you can use. If you don’t like any of the suggested names then you can type in a new name and click on
Check Availability to check again if the new is available.
You have to keep trying until you find a name that is available. While at it, bear in mind that many of the common combinations you may think of have already been used by other people so you have to be quite creative while selecting a name. When you finally find one that is still available, take note of it and then click on Continue.

In the spaces provided, enter the title of your new blog and your preferred URL address.
Choose a template from the displayed options to start with. I prefer “Watermark”.

Hit the “Create Blog” button.
If everything has been done properly, you will be taken to a new screen which tells you that your blog has been created; all very easy.
Congratulations! Now you have your very own website. Click on Start Blogging to start using your new website.

With this your one account, you can actually create as many blogs as you like.

Getting Started
Click on the “Start Blogging” link, and you will be taken to the overview page. On the left side of this page, there is a menu with a list of tabs – Overview, Posts, Pages, Comments etc.
·        Overview: Displays summarized information about the blog activities such as comments, page views etc.
·        Posts: Displays your published posts as well as those saved as draft.

·        Layout: Displays your blog’s layout, you can modify this according to your preference.
·        Template: Displays your blog’s template.

Updating Your Blog
To update your blog with new information, you need to create a new post. The act of creating a new post is sometimes referred to as composing. It can be done from the Posts tab. You can get to the Posts tab by clicking on New Post from the dashboard.
Remember that if you logged out before, you will need to log in first so login now to get to the dashboard and click on New Post.

This will take you to a blank Compose screen:

Now click on Compose (1) and make sure that the icons labeled (2) are visible. The large white area labeled (3) is the actual compose area. This is where you type in or paste the information that you want to post. All your editing takes place inside this box before you publish the post.
Fill in the title. The title of the vacancy is also known as the headline. This is what will show up as a link on your website that people can click on to view the post. Click on “Preview” to see what the new post will look like on your blog

Next, we move on to the bottom to set some more options for the post.
Each post has something called a label associated with it. A label is a way of classifying your posts into categories. They can be very helpful in grouping related posts together and also assisting people to quickly find the information they need on your blog.
You can assign more than one label to a single post. Multiple labels must be separated by commas.
Always endeavour to use labels in your post where possible because in certain cases it also helps in getting visitors from search engines. Labels are similar to categories in WordPress and are discussed in greater detail in later Lessons.

When you have entered the labels, click on View Post. To view it in a new window will then see the message telling you that the post has been pub
Save Now button will not publish your post but will save it as a draft which you can go back to later and do additional

To see what the new post looks like, or tab, click on the new window icon (located in the View Post Link. You should also check your homepage to see how the post appear there.
To make changes to the post use the Edit Post link (red post) to create another new post, click on Create a new post (red arrow). To view and edit all of your previous posts, use the Edit Posts sub-link (green box).

Future Posting
At the bottom of the post compose box, there some further options that allow you to configure additional settings related to the post that you are creating.

Click Post Options to reveal the options dropdown:

Each of the four settings in the post options dropdown control different things. The default settings for these options are okay so you do not need to always modify them whenever you post.
The two settings at the bottom (Edit HTML Line Breaks and Compose Settings) are for more experienced users so do not change them unless you know exactly what you are doing.

The second option (Post date and time) allow you to specify the day and time the post should be shown on your blog. The default setting is automatic which means that your post will appear on your blog as soon as you click on Publish Post.
If you do not want it to be published instantly, select Scheduled at to reveal more:

The time shown by default in the dropdown is the time that you started composing the message. Note that the date format is Month/Year/Day. Change the date and
time to when you want it to become visible on the website the click Publish Post.

Now you can see that setting up a blog is very easy on Blogger. I will also be explaining how to set up a Wordpress blog in another post that would come later or register for my free E-course by clicking here. Now following these simple steps and set up your new blog, if you have any questions or additional contributions, maybe I missed something let me know by leaving a comment. How To Make Money On The Internet Using Information Marketing

Information marketing, as the name implies, is basically about selling information to people online. This information is usually made available in soft copy and could take the form of e-books, reports, e-booklets, videos, audio or any other format. For a country like Nigeria, e-books are generally easier and more accessible over the Internet than videos because of the slow internet connection speeds.
Don't let the word Marketing scare you. This is not face to face marketing and you do not need to meet anybody one on one or try to verbally convince anybody to buy anything. In information marketing, your web pages and email messages do all the marketing for you and all you have to do is sit back and wait for the payment alerts to start arriving on your phone.
In this type of online business, once you have set up the proper systems and have paid for online advertising, everything else is nearly automatic.

Information marketing is very good because you can begin to get returns within two or three months of starting up. Once the system is in place, all you are required to do is monitor it occasionally to ensure that you are getting the desired response, and also monitor your bank account. When anybody buys from you, you verify their payment and forward the product to their email and that's it.
But unlike other online business like Google Adsense where you can start without any capital, you will need to invest a little amount to start up information marketing business in order to get fast and guaranteed results. The first sales you make can be reinvested into the business for better profits and after a short while, you will begin to turn in increasingly bigger and better profits as your list of prospects grows and more people get to know about you and your products.

Also you do not necessarily need to be the one to write this information that you market. There are places where you can buy the rights to resell already existing e-books or hire someone to write for you.
In our Cash System Business course that I've been talking about, people who register also get an e-book with the rights to resell so that they can start off with. If you are planning to register for the course, you do not need to worry about something to start with. But if you do not have the necessary funds to buy resale rights or pay a writer, and if you do not register for my CSB course then you have no choice but to write your own e-book and hope that it is good enough for people to buy.
Once you have obtained the product, the next step is to promote and market it. There are two common approaches you could take to promoting it. The first approach is to build a list of prospective buyers by offering them something for free like a free e-book or a free email course. The strategy of building a list of prospective buyers is known as the indirect or auto-responder method. After using the free stuff to lure them in and increase your credibility then you gently start to market to them. Since you have already captured their email, you can keep mailing and mailing them trying to get those who have not bought to buy.

Another method is the Direct method. Here you do not use an auto-responder to capture emails. All you need is just a web page talking about the benefits of your e-book and trying to convince the visitor to buy. This page, also known as a sales page, will list the contents of the e-book or package that you are selling and most importantly instructions telling people how to place their order.
The simplest process of ordering is by stating your bank account and asking customers to pay into it after which they should send a text message to you with the depositor name, payment slip number, amount paid, email and phone. An example of a sales page is this one for my Cash System Business course.

When a payment is made into your account, you will get an alert from your bank and all you need to do is to confirm the payment with the texts sent to you and forward the e-book to the buyer's email address. There are also automatic ways that payments can be processed via ATM card but that is a much more complex process.
Once you have your sales page up, your next task would be to start promoting and advertising the page so as to get as many people as possible to visit it, see what you have written and hopefully buy. With a great product and a well designed sales page, you can make hundreds of thousands and even millions of naira from a single product within a very short time. It all depends on how convincing your sales page is and how well you are able to promote it.
One very important rule that you should always keep to is honesty. It is easy to make false claims and deceptive statements on your sales page and yes it might actually improve your sales but if your product does not contain or do what you claim that it does, then you have automatically become a fraudster and your name becomes tainted online. So my most important advice to intending info marketers is never ever deceive or make false claims about your product. A little exaggeration is sometimes understandable but try not to overdo it.
In my Cash System Business course, we cover the subject of Information marketing and Sales pages very thoroughly.
If you want to learn more about the CSB course package, click here.

Starting Out With Information Marketing
The minimum capital you will need to start information marketing is about
1,600 but to start off very well, I suggest a minimum of 5,000. Note that the more you are able to invest especially on advertising, the greater the profits you will make. In my case, I wrote my own e-book by myself and I started with an initial investment of about 1,600 spent mostly on advertising. Through continual reinvesting of my initial revenue, I was able to end up with about 50,000 in profits after about a hundred days.
Here are the main things needed to start a successful information marketing business:
1. A Hot Product
A useful and highly demanded information product (e-book) is the first key to success. The product you are selling is very critical to the success of this business because you do not expect people to be interested in what they do not need. Generally, your product must be able to solve a very pressing need of the people in the niche that you are targeting. Some popular niches that are always hot are wealth creation, health and fitness (dieting, weight loss etc) and Relationships (finding love, satisfying your partner etc)

Another very important thing to note is that your product must be of very good quality, must be worth the cost (even more than) and must do as you say it would, if not then nothing differentiates you from the many scammers out there. If you cannot create/write your own, you can buy the rights to sell someone else's book. Such rights are called Master Resale Rights (MRR).
You can get resale rights of some good products from as low as 10,000 to
15,000 while the rights of some very powerful products may sell as high as
30,000. Students of my CSB Course get two free Master Resale Right (MRR) books that they can use to help get them started and for practice. If you are good at writing, you can even create your own products and sell the resale rights to others for much more than the actual e-book costs and get yourself even additional revenue.
2. A Credit or Debit Card
This is what you will use to pay for advertising. Virtually all banks in Nigeria issue ATM debit cards but the last time I checked GTBank Naira Master card, UBA Africard, Zenith Bank Master card Web-surfer and Zenith Bank Visa Prepaid Buxz cards are some of the most reliable payment cards you can use on the internet for your online transactions here in Nigeria to make payments worldwide.
To get a GTBank Naira Master card, you need to open an account with Guaranty Trust Bank. (whether Current or Savings Account). You will need a Valid Form Of Identity e.g National Identity Card or Voters Card, Utility bill e.g PHCN Bill, passport and other requirements. After you have achieved this, you then activate it for internet banking so you can start using the card for your international online transactions like online payments, buying things online and so on.

In the case of UBA Africard which is issued by United Bank For Africa. You don’t necessarily have to an account with them. It is a debit card variant denominated in Naira and is prefunded and reloadable. The UBA Africard is virtually the easiest to obtain and it easy to obtain and internationally accepted (ATM, POS & Web). The card has a 10 digit number on it. This number serves as your account number when you want to fund the card by paying into the account number. Visit any UBA branch and ask them how you can get the UBA Africard.

For the Zenith Bank Master card Web-surfer, you need a minimum of $120 (about 19,500). $20 is for the card processing fee and an initial deposit of $100 which you can spend. The card becomes active in 48 to 72 hours and anytime you want to load the card, you need to buy the dollars from a BDC or black market and pay to Zenith Bank.
You can start with the minimum of $120 (in this case you will use a free website and the direct method). But if you can afford it, you could start with $200 (about 32,000). From this amount, $20 will be for the card and the rest $180 for advertising and any other payments you want to use it for. In my own case I started with GTBank Naira Master card  because it is very reliable and security friendly. The best way to do this is to create a facebook fan page like the one for this blog www.facebook.com/internetsuccesslimited and apply for the paid facebook advertisement. Facebook charges $10 per day (about 1,600) for advertising your product. When people log into facebook, they will see your product that is advertised by facebook, click on it and possibly buy the product you are offering. This is explained in full details in my Cash System Business.
3. An Auto-responder
An auto-responder is an online service or downloadable software that will help you send emails automatically to a list of prospects. It is not mandatory in information marketing but it can be helpful. Instead of sending people directly to your sales page as done in the direct method, what you do is to use the auto-responder to collect email addresses and build a database list of prospects i.e potential buyers. It is also used to automatically send periodic email messages regarding your product to your list.
For example, in our free email lectures, we make use of an auto-responder. If you have not yet registered for the free email lectures, you can do so by visiting www.internetsuccessforall.blogspot.com/freecourse. I just created the various lectures of the course and stored them in the auto-responder configuring it in such a way that anybody who registers for the course is automatically sent a personalized email containing one new lecture every day.
An auto-responder is a wonderful thing that can save you the stress of sending regular messages to your prospects. It is also the most powerful tool used in information marketing. There are some companies like Traffic-Wave, Get-response, Aweber, Mail-chimp etc where you can pay monthly to use their online auto-responder or you can build and host your own by yourself especially if your email list is very large.
As mentioned earlier, an auto-responder is not mandatory in information marketing but it has the added benefit of giving you the contact details of people who have shown some interest in what you have to offer. These types of people are easier to convince and a series of well crafted email messages can help convince more people about your product than just a brief encounter with your sales page as obtains in the direct method.
4. A Sales Page
This is where you will put all the details about the product that you are selling. It will contain all the details and benefits of the product that you are selling and it is meant to convince the visitors to buy the product. An example of a sales page can be found at www.internetsuccessforall.blogspot.com/csb which is the sales page of our Cash System Business Course. Another longer version of our C.S.B sales page can be found at www.internetsuccessforall.blogspot.com/e-csb.
Now all these things listed above are not too difficult to setup as long as you have the correct guidelines. To make it easy for people living in Nigeria who wish to learn more, I explained how to do this step by step in my Cash System Business Course. To learn more about the course, visit
Once you've got all the 4 things in place (A hot product, A debit card, an
Auto-responder and a sales page), everything else is very easy from there.
Like I said earlier, to get your Websurfer card, visit any Zenith Bank branch nearest to you but if you can’t afford that you can start with paid facebook advertisement.
Case Study
Let’s say you start with paid facebook advertisement for promoting and marketing your product by paying for advertisement for 2 days. Facebook charges $10 (about 1,600) per day. (The dollar exchange rates are very volatile so I shall use 160 in this example) .This means 1,600  2 = 3,200.
Within these 2 days, you will take advantage of the 200 million people that are currently using facebook. With this amount of advertising, you will be able to get at least 200 visitors a day to your website but only about half of that number will actually submit their email for the free course that you are offering, you might get about 100 people subscribed to your list.
Now, in this list, not everybody will buy your product. The number of people who will buy the first time around depends on how good the product is, the price you are selling it and the quality of the free information that you deliver.
In fact for a very good product that costs less than 4,000, you should only expect about 1% to 3% buying rate the first time around. So, assuming our product is very good and it sells for 2,000, it is safe to expect that at least 10 people out of the possible 100 to buy within the first two days.
That gives you 20,000 in revenue.
Here is where the real beauty of the system comes in: reinvesting the initial returns. Assuming you chose to pay for another 7 days advertisement from the 20,000 you have made so far, it will cost you 11,200 (i.e 1,600  7 = 11,200). You can keep the remaining 8,800 aside as part of the returns on your initial investment (don't eat it o).
Going by the previous calculations, we should expect to get double the number of prospects since you are spending double on advertising so at the end of 7 days, you may get about 500 new prospects on your list. Out of this number, 50 people may buy within the one week period. That gives you about 100,000 in revenue.
Now in addition to these new buyers, some people from the first set who have not bought before may also end up buying. So if 10 additional people buy from that set, you can get an extra 20,000 so the total money you would have made after 1 week and 2 day will now stand at N100,000 + the 8,800 which you kept aside giving 108,800.
At this point, you can remove your initial startup capital and keep repeating the process over and over again, growing your list in the process. Ultimately, the growth begins to increase geometrically and within a few months, you will have made more than a million naira from this one product using this one simple semi-automated system.
Now imagine that you have about three very good and hot products and lists of subscribers that you are building and marketing to at the same time using this system. In theory, this means that you can be making thrice the amount in the example above. Now imagine that you have five of these products. What about 10 products?
OK, before you get too carried away, I must warn you that the above example is only theoretical and real life results may either be much higher than that or much lower but it gives a pretty good idea of how the system works and what to expect.
WARNING: Although the example above looks rather simple, don't be fooled because as easy at it seems to make money with information marketing, it is even much easier to fail. In reality, there are other factors that will influence how much you make and how well you succeed. The most important of these are the kind of product you are selling, the niche that you are targeting, the price of your product with respect to the value it brings and how much you are willing to spend on advertising.
In many cases, you may have to first do a little experimenting before you will find the correct niche product to market. If you will like to get the step by step instructions on how to go about information marketing then it’s all explained in my CSB e-book and online training package such that even the greatest novice can do it.
Hopefully you have learnt a thing or two about online business and you are now armed with sufficient details that will help you make a very well informed decision of whether to try your hands at it or not.
